We recently worked on a collaborative project with Jowett and Sowry, Leeds Central Library and Leeds Metropolitan University. Jowett and Sowry specified key pieces of furniture for a new Business and Intellectual property centre within the Library. Four Mycroft chairs in Camira Hemp were accompanied by a special Shaper Table with bespoke artwork designed by students of the University’s BA(Hons) Design course as part of a competition led by MARK.
The winners were Liam Augur and Robert Chapman who designed this fantastic piece of artwork for the table top. A clever play on words represents ideas generation and the imagery it houses provides a link between the region, business, intellectual property and the library.
Photos show the finishing of the table by specialist surfboard laminators and finishes in Newquay, Cornwall.
Big congratulations to winners Liam and Robert who win a cash prize. We feel their design in this setting will provide a great place for a creative conversation and the table adds a real sense of place to the centre.
MARK has strong Leeds links – founders Anna and John were Leeds students, and Helena, who ran this project was born in Leeds!
