Any specifier in today’s market will be overwhelmed with sustainability information. It’s hard to know what questions to ask and how to assess the answers to make informed choices.

Before establishing MARK Product, designer and co-founder John Miller was an educator. First leading the Furniture Design degree at the London Metropolitan University where he set up the renowned Furniture Works centre. Shortly after, he became director of the School of Design at Falmouth University.

Throughout his career as a designer, lecturer and manufacturer, John has always been passionate about design as a tool for positive change. In his current role at MARK, he advocates that large behavioural impacts can come from small, subtle changes in the way we perceive and use products and spaces.

During the first lockdown in 2020, John started informative 10-minute table talks from his kitchen. He used everyday household items as props and examples to explain some of the key issues facing architects, designers and specifiers.

These talks have expanded this concept into small knowledge-sharing face-to-face discussions in our showroom focusing on core subjects in the specification of furniture and sustainable manufacturing.

It’s safe to say, our first live table talks were a hit. A big thank you to all those who came along. We love having visitors and hosting events in our wonderful space. A special thanks to the team at Clerkenwell Open, Design Insider, and Women in Office Design for making it happen.

Missed out? Fret not. Read insights from Table Talk 01 (Material choices and sustainability) here or Table Talk 02 (Greenwash in the furniture industry) here. But don’t forget to get your names down for our next table talks here.
