Upholstery is a key part of many a furniture specification. The choices can be a daunting – so many options to assess in terms of look and feel as well as suitability – where is it being used, how long it will last, what’s the impact of the materials choice, what happens at end of life.

We’ll be covering all this and more in our next Table Talk – Wednesday 19th July. RSVP [email protected]

Too often textiles are chosen for their look only to be let down by how it feels on your skin or that it looked fantastic but has a short life span, ending up in landfill. We’ll be looking at understanding the fire regs concerning furnishing textiles.  Also what all the tests and other technical data mean and can tell you.

Looking also at the different fibres – synthetic, plant and animal derived, and their various characteristics.  What we as upholsterers are looking for when we assess a fabric, and how the fabric quality may affect the way we make the product.  And then we’ll be looking at the current end-of-life options for textiles and what we can do to make more sustainable choices.

A short interactive discussion to further your furniture knowledge, followed by a well earned drink in the sunshine.
